We have been reviewing our DPF file service, as they continue to be heavy on technical support and redo’s.

Fact is we know it's 20% of our file volume, but we also know it's a much higher % of problems. Dealing with these issue detracts from the main file supply and we know also causes you difficulties out in the field in terms of turnaround times, etc.

We do however recognise that DPF business is a high value job for you, so therefore it’s vital that we maintain the service, for as many vehicles as possible.

As you may know, we use 3rd party software to generate most of our DPF files which we then enhance with further code corrections, etc. Some of their files calibrations we don’t like, as they carpet bomb delete large areas of the diagnostic system, which we try to avoid for obvious reasons.  Also some of the solutions tend to have intermittent success, dependant on SW revision.

In order to introduce improvements and provide clarity to DPF business for you, we have done an in-depth review of what solutions work; which can cause problems and others we should never do. This has led to new categorisation of DPF Solutions which will be introduced from Tuesday 26 May, as follows:

      Supported DPF Solutions

Known solid solution that’s work

With these we will deliver the solution with options required, i.e. tune and EGR, etc

If there are problems, it’s almost certainly down to the vehicle, sensors or failure to undertake correct diagnostics and resets, but we will look at any redo’s to help resolve

·

       Unsupported DPF solutions

Known to have some problems

And/or is an un-ideal blanket code delete solution

We will supply a file to your spec, plus a we will supply a DPF off only file at the same time.  Where we know upfront there are problems with associated tunes, we will supply just a DPF off file

If there are any problems with the vehicle, try on the DPF only file.  If still not OK then return to org and then apply for credit. There will be no further support, or redo’s on Unsupported DPF solutions.

       No DPF’s Solution

Solutions know to always have problems, so therefore we will not be able to supply a file for these vehicles.

And/or are Euro 6 emissions vehicles. As part of Euro 6 – EC Regulation EC/715/2007 cars not exceeding 2.5 tonnes laden, sold after 1st September 2015 must meet Euro 6 emissions requirements. To achieve this manufacturers are using both DPF and AD-Blue solutions, so in these cases we are not able to supply either a DPF nor AD-Blue solution.

The attached PDF lists the categories by Manufacturer/ECU type, so please refer to it whenever quoting for a DPF off job. We will be updating the VRM urgently, but always refer to the PDF until this is done.  In case of uncertainty, please raise a support ticket.

The document also details:

· Calibration Status

· Diagnostic tool essential?

· Sensors connected and working ?

· Forced regeneration essential ?

Where it is a supported DPF solution, you can be confident to go ahead with the job. When its un-supported this will need careful consideration and we suggest that you have Plan-B in mind in case the solution does not work.  Tell the customer up-front with potential options, including new DPF; further regenerations and chemical cleaning, etc. To reiterate, we won’t be doing any redo’s on Un-supported DPF files, chasing something potentially unachievable.

Obviously, it is always a changing scenario as updated calibrations are introduced and tested. In addition your feedback is essential in order that we can consider re-categorising, either way.

If you have any questions about this new strategy please contact us, preferably by support ticket.
